PEACE FROM GOD – 1/7/23 (Christmas Weekday)

PEACE FROM GOD – 1/7/23 (Christmas Weekday)

Gospel
Jn 2:1-11
There was a wedding at Cana in Galilee,
and the mother of Jesus was there.
Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding.
When the wine ran short,
the mother of Jesus said to him,
“They have no wine.”
And Jesus said to her,
“Woman, how does your concern affect me?
My hour has not yet come.”
His mother said to the servers,
“Do whatever he tells you.”
Now there were six stone water jars there for Jewish ceremonial washings,
each holding twenty to thirty gallons.
Jesus told them,
“Fill the jars with water.”
So they filled them to the brim.
Then he told them,
“Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter.”
So they took it.
And when the headwaiter tasted the water that had become wine,
without knowing where it came from
(although the servers who had drawn the water knew),
the headwaiter called the bridegroom and said to him,
“Everyone serves good wine first,
and then when people have drunk freely, an inferior one;
but you have kept the good wine until now.”
Jesus did this as the beginning of his signs at Cana in Galilee
and so revealed his glory,
and his disciples began to believe in him.

Reflection:

A blessed first Saturday to all of us! Let’s do the devotion of the first Saturday. Check out the guide here:

Today, we look at the wedding in Cana where Jesus performed His first miracle. The disciples trusted Him because no ordinary being could do such a thing. But, they did not understand Jesus right away. This was just the beginning, and they still had a lot to discover on their journey with Jesus. We also have a lot more to learn and discover about Jesus, not only in the study of faith but in our life of prayer and obedience to Him. The more we do what He says the more we know God. It is necessary to read the Word or listen to it in the Holy Mass and do whatever Jesus says to us through His Word.

As Mary said to the servants, “Do whatever He tells you.” Jesus did not answer “Yes” or “No”, but Mary knew what was in His heart. She knows that there is only goodness and mercy in the will of the Lord, and we just need to do what we have to do, and He will take care of it.

As such, sometimes, we worry because we want to control even the things we have no control over. Let’s leave everything to God and just do whatever we can. We will surely have peace from Him. Amen. +

Let’s ponder on it. Amen. +

May the Loving and Almighty God bless us all, and may He protect us from temptation and evil now and forever. Amen. +
