Blessed Memorial of Saints Timothy and Titus! The words of Jesus were clear, “For their is nothing hidden except to be made visible…” All of our secrets will be known because of the light of Christ. What is this pertaining to? Our Lord Jesus is speaking of the general judgment. Private judgment refers to the judgment that everyone will experience immediately after death, whether the soul will enter heaven or fall to hell. All of his or her actions will be manifested at this time privately. On the other hand, the General judgment refers to the judgment day at the second coming of Christ where all of our actions, both the good deeds and our sins, will be revealed to everyone. When we think of our own secrets, we may be ashamed to tell them to others. But, it will be different in the general judgment because all secrets will be known in accordance to the light of Christ. For those who are in heaven, even if everyone will see the sins and imperfections of the saints, we will also see their conversion and transformation because of God’s mercy. This should give us hope as we are aware of our own imperfections and mistakes in life. Instead of losing hope and being disappointed, we can trust in God and depend on Him, and His glory will be manifested to everyone.

Once we become aware of our sins, it’s important for us to seek the light of Christ and do what is right. But, this is difficult if we are only relying on our own perspective, opinion and strength. This is why it’s important for us to have guides in our spiritual life for us to be transformed by God’s love. This is what we can see in St. Timothy and St. Titus. St. Paul was influential in their conversion to Christianity, and as he guided them, they became the co-workers of St. Paul. How about us? Do we seek the guidance of others? When we look at the lives of the saints, we will see their faithfulness to Christ and the teachings of the Catholic Church. Because of their love, they always made time to spend it with God. They were able to bear their sufferings because of their trust in Jesus. At the same time, all points to Christ. He is our ultimate guide. Being aware of our spiritual guides is not just for the sake of knowing information. It’s about imitating them and giving glory to God. Through their guidance, we will see the message of God for us amidst our struggles and sins, and this is the message of hope. Nothing will be hidden in the light of Christ.

Amen +

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, be with us always until the hour of our death. Amen. +

May the Lord + bless us, protect us from all evil and bring us to everlasting life. Amen. +
